What is GRE ?

GRE stands for Graduate Records Examination conducted by ETS in New Jersey at different locations around the world. GRE test is conducted as a pre-requisite by most of the top ranking universities in USA, Canada and rest of the world.                                                                                     Top

GRE is written in two test formats:

The GRE® General Test measures verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, critical thinking,and analytical writing skills that are not related to any specific field of study.

The GRE® Subject Tests gauge undergraduate achievement in eight specific fields of study and can help forecast a candidate's potential for success in graduate school. Each Subject Test is intended for students who have majored in or have extensive background in that specific area.
GRE subject test is conducted in following areas;
· Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology
· Biology
· Chemistry
· Computer Science
· Literature in English
· Mathematics
· Physics

GRE test format

Verbal Reasoning — The skills measured include the test taker's ability to.
· analyze and evaluate written material and synthesize information obtained from it.
· analyze relationships among component parts of sentences.
· recognize relationships between words and concepts.
Quantitative Reasoning — The skills measured include the test taker's ability to.
· understand basic concepts of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and data analysis.
· reason quantitatively.
· solve problems in a quantitative setting.
Analytical Writing — The skills measured include the test taker's ability to.
· articulate complex ideas clearly and effectively.
· examine claims and accompanying evidence.
· support ideas with relevant reasons and examples.
· sustain a well-focused, coherent discussion.

GRE test scores

Three scores are reported on the General Test, totalling 1600
· a Verbal Reasoning score reported on a 200-800 score scale, in 10-point increments.
· a Quantitative Reasoning score reported on a 200-800 score scale, in 10-point increments.
· an Analytical Writing score reported on a 0-6 score scale, in half-point increments.
· NOTE: A total first two is score of GRE plus in analytical writing percentile is given, some universities have cut off.for these scores too, so while preparing for GRE must select the universities and check on their cut off.                                                                                                    Top

Fees & Registration

GRE test fee is USD 170 and can be paid by credit card online. This fee is going to be revised by 1st of May 2009 & will be US $'s 180. For registration of GRE you can send mail to us at info@grecoaching.com or alternately get registered by:
